I'm looking to set up a system with an RTX 5070 graphics card and an i5-12400F processor. My current power supply is an AIGO VK650, which is 650W and has an 85 Plus rating, but I'm concerned about its quality. Right now, my budget doesn't allow for a PSU upgrade. Do you think using a 650W power supply is sufficient and safe for this setup temporarily, or is it too risky?

I've been running an RTX 5070 on a quality 650W PSU without issues. The real concern is the reliability of your current unit. If you can at least afford to switch to a reputable brand like Seasonic, it'll be a much safer option. Just remember that the wrong PSU can lead to bigger problems later on!

Honestly, I'd be cautious with that specific power supply. It's categorized as F-tier, which signals serious quality issues. I've seen users experience problems, where such units can fry your components. A solid PSU is vital for your system's stability and safety, so I'd definitely consider saving up for a reliable one. Even a well-reviewed unit can be found for around $50, and it's well worth the peace of mind!

Yeah, don't take chances. Your GPU is valuable, and you don't want to risk damage for the cost of a good PSU.

If you're stuck with it for the time being, just be aware of its limitations. It might hold up for a while, but there's a good chance it won't last long-term. It's safer to operate under the assumption that it'll give out when you least expect it. Better to plan on upgrading as soon as you're able!

Thanks for the insight! I'll definitely keep that in mind while I save up.

I think you're okay for now if you truly can't upgrade, but just make sure to monitor the situation closely. It's not ideal, but I've managed with older PSUs before. Just don't push it too hard and keep an eye on temperatures and stability!

While 650W could technically work, it's not just about wattage. The quality of your PSU matters, and that one seems risky. I've had a similar experience and learned that investing in a better unit is crucial. Aim for at least a Tier A 750W PSU when you can, as it'll handle your components much better without risking failure.
