Is a 750W Gold Power Supply an Overkill for My GPU Upgrade?

Asked By EpicGamer42 On

I'm getting ready to upgrade my GPU and I'm looking for some advice on my current setup. Here are my specs:
- CPU: Intel i5-12600K
- RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
- Motherboard: ASUS TUF B660M-Plus WiFi D4
- Cooling: MSI MAG CoreLiquid 240R V2 (AIO)
- Current PSU: Corsair CV650 (planning to upgrade soon)

I'm thinking of upgrading to at least a 750W (80+ Gold) power supply before I install a new GPU. My GPU options include:
- RTX 4060 (8GB)
- RTX 3060 (12GB)
- RTX 3060 Ti (8GB)
- RX 6700 XT (12GB)

Could you help me with two questions?
1. Which GPU would provide the best performance with my i5-12600K while minimizing bottlenecks and ensuring value in 2025?
2. Is a 750W Gold PSU excessive for these cards, or is it a wise choice for future-proofing and reliable power?

Thanks for any insights!

For your price range, the RX 6700 XT is probably the best option if they're around the same price. Also, a 750W PSU isn't overkill—it’s actually a solid choice, especially given that future GPUs might require more power. Always go for a reputable brand too; a quality PSU is essential!
