Is a 7800X3D with a 5700XT a good choice for 1080p gaming?

I'm considering an upgrade to a 7800X3D processor paired with my RX 5700XT Red Devil for gaming at 1080p. Currently, I have an R5 3600, and I'm looking to move to the AM5 platform. However, my budget doesn't allow for a new video card just yet. Is it reasonable to continue using the 5700XT, or will there be significant drawbacks? I mainly play modded Minecraft, Dota 2, CS2, and I intend to play upcoming titles like BF6 and BO7. Should I consider upgrading my GPU too?

That CPU and GPU combo is a bit unusual, but it should still work fine. Just make sure you have the right motherboard and RAM. What do you plan to get for those?

I'm looking at an MSI PRO B650M-P and Kingston FURY Beast 2x16 GB 6000MHZ CL 30.

If you're really getting the 7800X3D, it might be worth considering investing more into your GPU down the line. Your 5700XT will hold you back from utilizing the full performance of that CPU. Just keep that in mind while planning your upgrades.

Honestly, the 5700XT is still solid for 1080p gaming. If you're making the jump to a 7800X3D, you might feel a bit of a mismatch since the CPU would be capable of more than what the GPU can handle. If you can, maybe save up for a better GPU in the future, but for now, you should be fine for your current games.

Depending on your gaming needs, I’d suggest looking for a budget upgrade to something like a 5600X or asking around for a used GPU if you want a bit more performance. The CPU can handle more firepower, especially for the games you're interested in.
