Is a 900W UPS Sufficient for My 850W PSU?

Hey everyone! I recently experienced a power outage that almost damaged my PC (thankfully it didn't), and it made me realize the importance of having a good UPS. I'm considering a 900W (1500VA) UPS. Do you think that's enough to support my 850W PSU, or should I look for something with more headroom? I've done some research, but I want to double-check for my specific setup. Here are the full specs of my PC: Desktop with an RTX 3080ti GPU, Ryzen 9 7900X CPU, ASROCK x670e motherboard, 32GB RAM, and the PSU is an MSI MAG A850GL, which is 850W and 80 Plus Gold certified.

Just a note, remember that the wattage rating on your PSU means it can supply up to 850W, not the amount of power it draws from the wall. Your 850W PSU can actually pull more watts from the outlet due to efficiency losses. At peak loads of 850W, you might see around 977W drawn from the wall because of the PSU's efficiency ratings—around 87% at full load with an 80 Plus Gold rating.

You should be good to go! Just remember, the 850W rating for your PSU is the maximum output. If you’re generally using less power, you won't hit that limit. For a more accurate idea of your actual power consumption, consider using a power meter or check out PC Part Picker. I have a similar UPS, and when my PC is idling, it only pulls around 125-175W, even under load I only use about 400-450W. But just a heads up, if your system runs maxed out, the UPS won't keep it powered for long; I get about 10 minutes at peak load, but over 30 when idle.
