Is a Career Change to Web Development a Bad Idea Because of AI?

I shifted my career path from dentistry to web development after realizing I wasn't enjoying dentistry and struggled with it throughout my studies. I've always had a passion for tech, so during my internship year, I dedicated myself to learning web development. Now, I'm wrapping up a scholarship that's giving me a credential in this field. However, I'm really anxious about the growing dominance of AI in programming and whether or not my lack of a computer science degree puts me at a disadvantage. Am I making a mistake by switching to web development?

Think of AI as a powerful resource that aids in your work. It's not on the level where it can substitute a skilled developer. Focus on gaining practical experience; you'll be able to handle more complex tasks that AI struggles with!

In a worst-case scenario, your background in dentistry can still open doors to various roles beyond just web development. Just put yourself out there, gain experience, and find your niche. Remember, AI is just a tool and not the ultimate solution.

Don't let AI scare you away! Currently, AI isn't as advanced at coding as you might expect. Test it out yourself, and you'll see it often needs a lot of tweaks. It's more about enhancing your productivity than taking your job.

AI's impact on coding jobs is still in the early stages, and it hasn't taken over yet. The key is to use AI as a helpful tool rather than a replacement. Get experience, and don't stress too much about it!

I wouldn't worry too much! AI isn't anywhere close to replacing programming jobs. It can help, but you still need a developer to make the most of it. I often find myself doing tasks manually instead of relying on AI; it's just not efficient sometimes. So, stick with it!
