Hey folks! I recently got my hands on a Ryzen 7 5700X3D and I'm gearing up to install it. I just need to double-check if my power supply will handle the load before I dive in.
Here's what I've got:
- Corsair CV650 80+ Bronze (picked this up in mid-2023)
- Currently running a Ryzen 5 5600, upgrading to the Ryzen 7 5700X3D
- My GPU: Radeon RX 9060 XT with 16GB and a tri-fan setup
Based on my rough estimates, the power draw looks something like this:
- RX 9060 XT: ~160W
- Ryzen 7 5700X3D: around ~115-120W
- Other components: ~50-80W
So, I'm looking at a total load of roughly ~330-380W, maybe hitting around ~400W during spikes. This is still under the CV650's ~624W capacity on the 12V rail.
My main question is: would it be safe to run this setup on the CV650, or should I plan on upgrading the PSU later on (though it isn't urgent)? I'm not into overclocking - just regular gaming and everyday tasks. Thanks for your help!

While it's technically enough, the CV650 is a pretty basic power supply. If you can swing it, you might want to think about upgrading to something a bit better for peace of mind, especially since the RX 9060 XT can pull a lot under load.
True, but for now, if you're not pushing it hard or overclocking, you should be fine just gaming.
