I'm considering getting a MacBook mainly for studying and light coding. I'm planning to use software like Xcode and PyCharm but don't need anything too powerful. Does the MacBook Air handle these programs well? I'm leaning away from the MacBook Pro because it's bulky and pricier.

Yeah, it's a much better option than it seems. The MacBook Air really is efficient for coding without the weight of a Pro.
Go for 16GB if you can! I have an M2 model with 8GB, and I’ve noticed that Xcode can be pretty demanding, so it tends to slow things down.
I love mine for studying and coding! I used it throughout college, and it works perfectly for everything I need. Xcode and PyCharm run smoothly on it, too.
Absolutely! The MacBook Air is a solid choice for coding, especially for light to moderate use. I've had great experiences with Xcode and PyCharm on mine.
As long as you get one with an M chip, you should be good! I'd recommend going for 16GB of RAM; it makes a big difference when running coding applications.
What model do you have?
