Is a MacBook Air M4 Good Enough for Photoshop and Lightroom?

Hey everyone! I'm a college student looking to upgrade to a MacBook for graphic design and light photo editing. I've seen mixed opinions on whether the MacBook Air is up to the task or if I should go for the Pro model because of its better cooling system. I'm considering the 13-inch MacBook Air M4 with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. As a graphic design intern for my college athletics department, I usually spend a few hours every other day on Photoshop. I also do some photography with light editing work in Lightroom. I don't plan to do any video editing or use Premiere or After Effects in the near future. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!

I have an M2 Air, and it handles Photoshop and Lightroom without any problems, so the M4 should be just fine for you. If you can swing it, I’d suggest upgrading to the 24GB RAM version for your design work, as it’ll be quicker, but the 16GB will work well too.

That's great to hear! Just curious, have you experienced any heating or throttling issues with your Air while using Photoshop, or has it been pretty consistent?

Good to know! I appreciate the feedback. I haven't encountered any heating issues while using mine, which is a relief.
