Is Air Cooling or Liquid Cooling Better for My First PC Build?

I'm putting together my first PC featuring a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and I'm really concerned about choosing the right cooler. A lot of folks rave about the Peerless Assassin, but I've also heard great things about liquid cooling. In my area, the best options for liquid cooling are the MSI MAG CORELIQUID A13 240 and the Asus Liquid Prime LC 240 Argb 200W. I'm not too worried about the price since both options cost the same, but I would love your input on which cooling solution would be better for my build! Feel free to ask me anything else to help clarify my situation!

For most users, a good air cooler will do just fine! Many AIOs don’t really outperform a Peerless Assassin, even at normalized noise levels. Air coolers are just simpler and quieter, making them a solid choice for your first rig.

Appreciate the insight! Between the Peerless Assassin and Phantom Spirit, which one would you say is better?

Honestly, for your first build, I'd recommend going with an air cooler unless you're super set on having that sleek look of an AIO. Air coolers are way more dependable and last a long time without the risk of leaks. The Peerless Assassin is popular for a reason, just go for that and save the liquid cooling for later if you want to upgrade!

Good point! Should I stick with the Peerless Assassin, or is the Phantom Spirit better? They are about the same price.

Air cooling is definitely the way to go for your first build. There are fewer moving parts that can wear out, plus they're way easier to maintain. With an air cooler, you generally don't have to worry about leaks or pump issues like you might with liquid cooling. Just make sure to pick a reliable cooler, and you'll be set!

Thanks for the advice! Will definitely look into solid air coolers like the Peerless Assassin.

Exactly! Air coolers just need some occasional dusting and re-pasting, way less hassle.

A lot of people get AIOs just for the aesthetic, but in terms of performance, many air coolers, such as the Phantom Spirit, can perform just as well with your CPU. If you like the look, go for it, but don’t feel pressured to make that choice right away!
