Is an 850W Power Supply Sufficient for My 9900X3D and 5080 Setup?

I'm looking to confirm whether my 850W Gold power supply is adequate for my system, which includes a 9900X3D processor, an overclocked 5080 graphics card, 2x 16GB DDR5 RAM, 2x M.2 SSDs, a 5400RPM 3.5 HDD, and 7 ARGB fans. Some power supply calculators suggest I need 1000W, while others indicate that 850W should be sufficient. Can anyone share their insights?

While 850W is technically adequate, I'd recommend ensuring you have some headroom, just to be safe. If you're concerned about spikes, consider a bit more wattage. PSUs tend to operate better at the 30-50% load range, so a 1000W unit could be quieter and more efficient long-term.

An 850W power supply should handle your setup pretty easily, especially if it's of good quality. There's definitely room to spare for your components!

Your calculation looks solid! Just considering the specs, the 5080 will be about 350W under load, and the 9900X3D should only pull around 120W. Add in the other components, and you’re still well below 500W. An 850W is indeed plenty for what you have.

Right? Plus, I’ve been running more demanding setups with lower wattage without issues, so it seems you should be good!

Nvidia actually suggests 850W as the minimum for systems with the 5080, so you should be fine. It's always better to have a bit of extra capacity for future upgrades or if you want to push your components harder later!

Honestly, 850W is enough. Going for 1000W would just be overkill unless you're planning some major upgrades down the line.
