Is an 850W PSU Enough for My Build?

I'm building a PC and used PCPartsPicker to estimate the wattage, which came out to around 600W. I'm wondering if an 850W power supply is sufficient, or if I should go for a 1000W instead. What do you guys think?

An 850W PSU should serve you well, especially if you're not planning any major upgrades for a while. Just keep in mind that sometimes the price difference between 850W and 1000W isn't that much. If you think you'll gradually upgrade your parts, you might save money in the long run by opting for a higher wattage now.

True! I bought a 1000W for my previous builds, and it lasted me through multiple upgrades without any issues.

850W is perfectly fine for your setup. I usually prefer to add a bit of extra headroom, so I like to take the estimated wattage and add around 100W more. Since your build is estimated at 600W, 850W gives you a nice cushion without being wasteful. Just make sure you get a quality PSU; it makes a difference!

Yeah, a reliable PSU is crucial! I had a cheap one that failed on me after a year.

I’m using an 850W PSU for 1440p gaming, and it works like a charm. Just make sure to choose a reputable brand to avoid short lifespans.
