Hey everyone! I'm trying to decide whether to use my "850W SilverStone ST85F-GS V2" power supply with my new "5080 TUF OC" graphics card. I understand that it might not be enough for overclocking and that I'll need some adapters temporarily, but I'm eager to know what you think. Should I take a chance on my old PSU, or would it be better to invest in a new one? If I do need a new one, what would you recommend? Just for your info, I'm running an i9-10850K CPU.

I think you're looking at this all wrong. The V2 might not be great since it's older than the V3, which came out in 2015. The PSU might not handle modern GPU power spikes well, so be cautious.
You can definitely use your current PSU for now. However, if you do decide to upgrade, I suggest looking at the Montech Century II 1050W; it should handle overclocking quite well.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check that one out!
It's risky to rely on a 10-year-old PSU, especially with modern GPUs that draw power differently. A more recent model would provide better stability and peace of mind.
But I’ve had mine running smoothly with an i9 and 3080 for years, though I should probably be more careful.
If you're looking for stability, 850W should be fine for basic tasks, but I recommend leaning towards upgrading to at least 1000W. It's not much more expensive, and it gives you plenty of headroom for future upgrades!
Honestly, as long as you're not using a super power-hungry setup with a lot of RGB fans, 850W should be plenty. I'm running a 5900X with an RTX 5080 on a 700W PSU, and my highest wall draw is around 550W. Spikes with 50-series cards are not as dramatic as the previous generation, so you should be fine.
That’s good to know! I’ve seen about 550W peak with my own setup, and I'm using an unlocked voltage, so it sounds like we’re in a similar boat.

I haven’t had any issues with my 3080 for 5 years, but I get what you're saying.
