Hey everyone! I could really use some advice here. I recently upgraded my graphics card from a 3060ti to an RTX 5080, and I've been gaming on Ragnarok at 2K resolution with all the graphics maxed out. After about 10 minutes, my AMD Ryzen 7 9700X hit around 85°C. Is this temperature typical for this CPU? Should I consider getting a new cooler or is there something I can do to manage the heat better?

Based on what I’ve read, 85°C is a typical and safe temperature for the Ryzen 7 9700X, especially under heavy load. However, it’s a good idea to optimize your system's airflow. Before thinking about changing your cooler, maybe check your case fans and airflow setup first.
Absolutely, you’re fine! Newer CPUs can handle up to 95°C without issues, so you shouldn't worry at 85°C. Just keep gaming and monitor it occasionally!
Thanks for reassuring me! I feel better knowing I'm within safe limits.
85°C is definitely above the ideal but still fine for your 9700X with air cooling. If you prefer a quieter setup, consider upgrading to a cooler like the Arctic Freezer 36 for air or an Arctic Liquid Freezer III 240mm for water cooling. My setup stays around 50°C max with a liquid cooler, and it's super quiet.
Thank you! It’s good to know I'm not in any danger. I'll look into the Arctic options after I do some upgrades.
You could consider checking out some videos on optimizing your cooling setup. I have a Ryzen 5 that used to run hot, but after adjusting some settings, it stays around 85°C. Here’s a great video I followed: https://youtu.be/FaOYYHNGlLs.
Great idea! I saved the video, and I’ll test out the suggestions. I’ll update after trying it.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely look into improving my airflow before swapping out the cooler.
