I'm looking to upgrade from my 2080 Ti and had planned on buying a 5070 Ti, but the prices have skyrocketed to $1000 or more! I don't mind buying used, and I'm hoping to have a Steam Frame-ready PC for 1440p gaming. Should I be considering alternatives like the 4080 or 3090 at what I assume are now 'reasonable' prices? I've heard the 9070 XT is decent, but I need a GPU that performs well for ML training and inference—Nvidia seems to be ahead in that area. Any suggestions?

Honestly, if you’re really looking for performance and don’t mind spending, the 4080 Super might be your best bet if you find one around $600-700 used. Your 2080 Ti is still solid, so don't feel rushed—consider waiting for the right deal to pop up. It's about getting what you can afford without jumping at inflated prices.
The 5070 still holds to its MSRP of around $550, and it’s about 1.5 times better than a 2080 Ti. If you’re considering selling your current card, you could get around $250 for it. The 9070 is another option, slightly better, but make sure you can find it for a decent price! Just check if there's a Microcenter nearby to snag some deals.
Best Buy has the Asus Prime 5070 Ti for about $899, which is decent but might sell out soon. It’s worth checking places like eBay or local listings for used options as well. Some people even set up stock alerts for quick notifications on drops, which can help you snag a good deal.
You could consider the 5060 Ti for ML tasks; it has the same VRAM as the 5070 Ti, which is useful if you have the right setup. But keep in mind it’s not a huge performance upgrade over the 2080 Ti—around 15% better for gaming.
That's true! But with the right optimizations for ML, it could still serve you well.
I say don’t get too caught up in trying to find a ‘value’ card. Just buy the best GPU within your budget. If it’s the 5070 Ti, then go for it!
Right now, it’s a tough market. If you can, it might be smart to wait a bit. There are still 9070 XTs available, but they're priced over MSRP. Honestly, all Nvidia cards are pretty inflated right now. If you wait, you might see a dip in prices, but there's no guarantee.
Yeah, I’m worried about prices going up even more if I hold out. I don't see a market stabilization for at least a year.

Definitely! I got a used one there recently at a good price after using a stock tracker. Just gotta be quick when you see an alert!
