Is an 8GB GPU Enough for Esports Games?

Hey folks! I'm not super tech-savvy, but I'm currently in the market for a graphics card. I've been considering getting an 8GB model, but some people are suggesting I should go for the 16GB version instead. The price difference is pretty significant, so I'm really weighing my options. I mainly play esports titles like Valorant, Overwatch, Marvel Rivals, and Apex Legends, and I don't usually play AAA games on my PC since I have a console for that. What do you think? Will an 8GB card suffice for what I play?

For the esports games you're focusing on, an 8GB GPU should work just fine! The advice for getting 16GB typically comes from those who play AAA games or load up a lot of mods. Right now, with the memory shortage, you might want to stick with what works for you and save some cash.

Just get whatever GPU fits your budget. The games you play don’t require too much VRAM. Even if a game needs more, 8GB will still perform adequately. You should be good to go!

I think 8GB is totally enough for the games you mentioned. Many people recommend 16GB just to future-proof for upcoming titles, but if you’re mostly playing esports, you can always upgrade later if needed.

Exactly! If you don’t mind lower settings on the newer games, the 8GB should still do the trick.
