I'm looking for some feedback on my recent PC build. In 2025, I decided to go with an AM4 setup instead of waiting for AM5. Most gamers in my area still prefer AM4 for CPU-intensive games, especially with APU builds being common. I finally built my PC in August after scoring some great discounts on parts. Here's what I ended up with:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X for $100
- Cooler: Thermalright Assassin X 120 R Digital for $19
- GPU: XFX Dual 9060 XT for $391
- RAM: TeamGroup T-Force DDR4 3600 32GB (16x2) CL18 for $82
- Motherboard: ROG Strix B550-F WIFI II for $120
- PSU: ASUS AP850G 80+ Gold for $120
- SSD: Kingston NV3 1TB for $45
- Case and fans: A31 TG with 7 fans for about $90-$100
I'm currently gaming on a 1080P monitor but also have a 4K TV where the FPS holds up nicely at lower settings. I plan to upgrade to a 1440P monitor by the end of the year. I know my 850W PSU is overkill for the 9060 XT, but I initially intended to grab a 9070 XT before prices soared due to import taxes. Overall, I think this build will last me at least another three years before I need to transition to a newer platform.

I think your setup looks solid for now. Just keep an eye on that NV3 SSD; it might start becoming a bottleneck as you upgrade other parts. But for gaming at 1440P, you'll be in good shape for a while!
You're totally fine with an AM4 build! It really depends on your priorities and needs. No need to rush into the latest tech just because everyone else is doing it. You'll find that AM4 can still handle modern games quite well, especially with the right components.
Honestly, there's no shame in going with AM4 in 2025. DDR5 prices are still high, and AM4 can provide great performance for gamers without breaking the bank.
