I'm considering an upgrade for my PC since I'm currently running a Ryzen 7 3700x with an RTX 2060 6GB. It handles most games pretty decently, but I want better performance at 1440p for titles like Arc Raiders, Helldivers 2, and Red Dead Redemption 2. I've found a used 10GB FTW3 RTX 3080 priced around 400-450 CAD. I've heard it offers similar performance to the 7800 XT, which runs about 550-600 CAD in my area. Given these options, do you think the 3080 is still worth it, or is it too outdated? I'm just weighing my options for the best upgrade. Any insights would be appreciated!

30 series cards aren't outdated just yet—just try to negotiate a better price if you can!
$400 CAD for a 3080 is a solid price! That's a great deal for that GPU, and it should still handle 1440p gaming well, especially for the titles you mentioned.
If you can land a 3080 for that price, why not go for it? I've been recommending them for a while now. They still perform admirably and are a great choice for 1440p gaming. Just compare a few options before buying.
I wouldn’t personally go over $400 for a used GPU. You have to consider the wear and tear; a new card like the 5060 Ti could be a better investment overall since it has better technology like DLSS and could capable average 60 FPS in rasterization, which you won’t get with the 3080.
I get that! I'm definitely going to do more research before making a decision.
Absolutely. Thanks for the perspective!
I'm currently playing Arc Raiders on a 3080 with a 5800x, and I'm hitting around 90-100 FPS at 1440p on epic settings. It's still a good card for modern games, so you'll likely be happy with it!
The 3080 still holds up as a strong card. Just keep in mind that while it performs well, it's not a Ti version—so it has slightly less VRAM compared to the Ti models. If you're okay with that, it could still be a good choice for your setup, but consider whether you'd want to save up for a newer generation card like the 5060 Ti for better long-term support.
Thanks for breaking that down! I'll think about it.
Don't forget, you might want to upgrade your CPU too to get the best FPS. Elevating your GPU is a good start, but if you can upgrade your CPU later on, it could make a big difference for gaming.
Good point! I plan to do it step by step, starting with the GPU.
This seems a bit high for a 3080, but it remains a competent option for gaming. Just ensure you know its condition and how it was used before buying.

Yeah, it really is!
