I've been using ChatGPT regularly with my Google account, and recently, I asked it about improving a particular skill. Shortly after, my Facebook feed became flooded with ads related to that skill, even though I hadn't searched for anything like that before. I'm wondering if this is a common occurrence now. Is my use of ChatGPT linked to more targeted ads popping up elsewhere?

Your keyboard might actually be sending keystroke data to its provider for 'analysis.' Plus, many apps and scripts on websites collect data about your behavior even when you're not actively using them. This lack of privacy is pretty pervasive.
I don't know, man, that sounds overly paranoid. I doubt the OS is collecting data that systematically.
ChatGPT doesn't share your data like that. What you're noticing could be the Baader-Meinhoff phenomenon, where you start noticing something more after you've just encountered it, or you might have visited some related links elsewhere without realizing it.
Yeah, the timing seems off. It’s odd that I had just one chat and suddenly got bombarded with these ads everywhere.
It's also possible Facebook has its own tracking methods. You’d be surprised how many things they monitor in the background.
Facebook is tricky with ads lately. My mom used my computer, logged into her account, and now my feed is filled with ads meant for her. It’s frustrating.
Check your Google or Microsoft account settings; you can manage data collection there so websites won't see your ad profile. Just remember that open tabs might still track your keystrokes.
Some apps could be recording audio metadata and scanning for product placements. I've suspected that Meta operates like this on their apps, and I've heard TikTok does similar things too.
If you're using a mobile device, be mindful of what keyboard you have installed. Some keyboards have been known to collect data.
I see your point, but some of these processes to capture data seem a bit extreme.
