I'm getting ready to upgrade my setup and while I know a clean install of Windows on a new drive is the recommended route, I'm considering cloning my data from my almost three-year-old SSD to a new drive. Although the health of my current SSD seems okay and there are no errors, I noticed a slowdown in read speeds during my last backup a few months back. Given this context, is it wise to clone the SSD contents or could that put too much strain on the old drive? Any advice would be appreciated!

Have you checked if your new SSD comes with any cloning software? Many SSD brands like Samsung and Crucial offer their own tools for this, which can make the process smoother.
I used to suggest software like Ghost back in the day, but that's outdated now. Good to hear there are modern options out there.
Yeah, things have definitely changed since then! I just want to make sure I don't lose any data.
If your SSD is showing no errors and its health is rated as good, you should be alright to clone it. Just keep an eye on that read speed, as it’s a potential red flag.
That slow read speed is worrying though. Could it be a sign that the drive is starting to fail?

I was actually considering using Acronis True Image for the cloning!
