Is Coding a Smart Path to Financial Freedom?

I'm 21 and currently feeling lost, living at home and wanting to find ways to work remotely to support myself and eventually move overseas. I stumbled upon coding and quickly became interested, but I'm unsure about the best way to start. Some say to take community college courses, while others suggest YouTube. If you were a complete beginner in this field, what steps would you take to set yourself up for success? Also, I recently learned that the market is quite saturated—are there any alternatives to coding that you'd recommend?

Honestly, if you're looking to get a remote position that pays well, you'll need quite a few years of experience. It's not really a quick money scheme; a lot of beginners struggle to find their footing because of the competition. Your best bet is to check out the resources in the sidebar for some good starting points, but don't expect to get rich quick in coding!

The coding job market is tough right now. It might take several years of study and experience to really stand out, and if you’re looking to work overseas, your options might be even slimmer. Companies are often hesitant to hire remote workers from abroad. Just something to keep in mind!

If you're really feeling the pressure from the market, consider roles like being an electrician. It’s always in demand, and if you want to pivot to IT later, you can. Plus, the need for electricians won’t go away any time soon!

I appreciate that! It’s a little disheartening to hear about coding, but it’s good to know there are other solid paths.
