Is Dual Booting Linux and Windows Safe with Only One GPU?

I'm eager to start using Linux on my laptop, which only has one GPU, but I still need to keep Windows around for work. I'm really concerned about the safety of dual-booting both operating systems since it involves some important files and installations on my Windows. How safe is it to do this? Should I worry about losing my Windows setup? Thanks for any advice!

You can’t run both systems at the same time, so your GPU will remain unaffected. However, if your laptop has only one drive, things could be trickier with partitions. You might want to try VirtualBox first if you're unsure how partitions work.

Yeah, VirtualBox is a great way to test things without messing up your main setup.

If you're really concerned, you might find inexpensive used PCs in your area to experiment with instead. Having a spare machine can be really helpful while learning!

As long as you’re careful and know what you’re doing during installation, dual booting should be fine. Just keep an eye on how you're partitioning your drive!

Having a single GPU doesn’t affect your ability to dual boot. Just make sure to follow the installation instructions carefully. It's always a good idea to back up your important data, though, just in case!

Definitely back things up! You never know what could go wrong during installation.

Also, I recommend distros like Ubuntu, Linux Mint, or Zorin OS to get started.
