I'm considering upgrading my setup. Right now, I have an AM4 platform with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a 6800XT. I saw a new 5700X3D priced at €320. Is this a good upgrade option for that price?

Have you checked the price on the R5 5600? It's typically about €90-€100 and only around 20% slower for CPU-heavy tasks. Plus, €320 is pretty high considering it used to be priced around €230 just a few months ago.

I recently grabbed a 7800X3D for just €299, which seems like a better deal! Have you looked into that option?

Yeah, but the AM5 platform can be pricier when you consider all the components you'll need, especially with RAM.

Ultimately, I think going AM5 is the way to go. The AM4 platform seems less appealing with price hikes on the older CPUs. You might be better off investing in a newer setup rather than putting money into AM4.

If you're focused on CPU-heavy games like BF6, the 5700X3D will definitely improve performance. While the price isn't great, it might still be a reasonable upgrade for your current setup. Just keep in mind that options for AM5 might be better looking forward.

Honestly, €320 seems a bit steep for an older CPU like the 5700X3D. It's definitely one of the better options for the AM4 platform, but I've seen it go for around €200 second-hand. If you can hold out and find a better deal, that'd be ideal.
