Is Egnyte the Best Move from Azure Files for Small Teams?

Hey everyone! I'm working as a sysadmin in a small finance company with under 50 employees, and I'm trying to figure out the best solution for our file management. We've had a rough experience moving to SharePoint before, so we returned to Azure Files where we currently have 2TB of shared data and a bunch of mapped drives. However, we're facing some serious issues:

1. **File Latency**: Opening large Excel files (like 1GB) is painfully slow, and even smaller files take about a minute to run formulas. The team is really feeling the crunch as they want quick access to their data without the hassle of moving files around.
2. **VPN Issues**: With many of our employees working remotely, the VPN connection is unreliable, making it hard to work with files smoothly.
3. **Collaboration Problems**: We can't collaborate on files in real-time, which is limiting.
4. **File Management**: There's no auto-save and recovering deleted files is a pain, which adds to our stress.
5. **Security Management**: Managing access and security compliance feels pretty chaotic.

Our MSP is recommending Egnyte for better functionality, but I want to know if it's worth it. We're currently trialing it and would love to hear your thoughts on switching away from Azure Files. What has your experience been like?

We switched to Egnyte about a year ago and I can honestly say I've had zero issues since. It works really well for our team of 30. We focus a lot on productivity, and it has made a major impact on our workflow!

Egnyte has been a great choice for us so far. The user interface is way better than SharePoint, making it easier to manage files and collaborate. Definitely give it a shot!

We left Azure Files for Egnyte about two years ago, and it’s been fantastic for our large files, especially PowerPoints. It’s been smooth sailing for our global team of 500+. I really believe it's the best option in the market right now!

We handle files in the 500MB range regularly, and they work seamlessly with Egnyte!

That sounds encouraging! Just out of curiosity, what sizes are your files? Ours seem enormous in KB but actually are less than 1GB.

Switching to Egnyte will probably enhance your experience a lot compared to SharePoint. It’s user-friendly for both teams and administrators. Just be aware of the cost; it's worthwhile if you can handle it!

Cost is definitely a concern for us too, especially since productivity losses can add up pretty fast. I hope it balances out!

Yeah, I've heard that too. It really depends on how much time you spend troubleshooting the current setup versus the potential cost of Egnyte.
