Is gaming on Linux really that bad?

I've been using Linux Mint as my main operating system, and I've started to notice that gaming performance isn't great; games like Throne and Liberty have lower settings and experience micro stutters. I'm considering switching to Pop!_OS because I've read it might run better with my RTX 3070 thanks to newer updates. However, I'm wondering if poor gaming performance is just a common downside of running Linux or if there might be something I'm missing. Any insights would be appreciated!

Have you checked your power settings? Make sure they’re set to 'Performance' instead of 'Balanced'. The default setting can actually cause stuttering. Once I switched to Performance, my games ran much smoother, similar to how they do on Windows.

I checked that, and I'm already on Performance.
