Is it a good idea to buy DDR5 RAM now if I can’t use it yet?

I'm planning to upgrade my PC to DDR5 in the future, but I can only afford to buy parts one at a time for now. I'm considering purchasing a 32GB DDR5 6000 RAM right away, especially since prices seem to be increasing. However, my current setup only supports DDR4, so the RAM would sit unused for a while. Do you think RAM prices will continue to climb, or is there a chance they'll drop again? Would it be smarter to buy now or wait?

Honestly, nobody can predict the future for sure, especially without knowing your upgrade timeline. It sounds a bit like panic buying, which often ends up being a bad idea. If you really want DDR5, keep an eye out for deals, but make sure you really need it first.

It’s hard to say exactly what will happen. Prices are likely to increase, but when they’ll drop is uncertain. Maybe focus on upgrading other parts of your system first, like the GPU or PSU. If you're feeling lucky, go for the RAM now, but be cautious about the market fluctuations.

If you can manage to buy it now, it probably won’t make a huge difference in the grand scheme. Prices are high already, so even if they go up by a bit more, it’s probably not a game changer for you.

RAM prices can keep going up, but historically, when CPU prices surge, RAM often gets cheaper. Right now, since you’re buying parts piece by piece, focus on what’s affordable now. But as of now, RAM isn't the cheapest item.

I wish I had snagged 32GB of RAM for just $100 like I could have last June! Even though I didn’t have the new motherboard or CPU at the time, it was a steal. If you're planning to upgrade soon anyway, it might be worth jumping on a deal.
