I'm considering building a new PC for myself since my girlfriend has taken over my current one. I want to go for a mini ITX case, but I'm wondering if putting a 9700 XT GPU in such a small setup is a bad idea. Any advice?

Check out the small form factor PC builds online, especially on forums like 'sffpc.' A popular choice is the Velka 7; many users have successfully installed powerful GPUs in mini ITX cases.
Assuming you meant the RX 9070 XT, it should work without issues at its stock 304W. If you're looking to save power and heat, consider the RX 9070 non-XT, which is 220W and still performs well. You can also undervolt it for even better efficiency!
You can typically use dual BIOS settings to lower the noise levels or adjust the core voltage in Adrenaline software for better power management. Just ensure the GPU has decent airflow!
People have fit higher-end components like Ryzen 9s and the latest GPUs in mini ITX cases before, so it shouldn't be an issue if everything fits properly!
This might not be the best choice, as the temperature could get pretty high in that tight space you’re planning on.
Many mini ITX cases allow the GPU to pull air directly from outside or have fans that blow fresh air right under the card, helping with cooling.
It should be okay! I managed to fit a 3080 Ti in a Fractal Terra case, which handles more power than what you're looking at.
I've got a 3090 in a small form factor case, so your 9700 XT should fit just fine! Good airflow will keep things cooler and quieter.
The primary concern is whether it will fit in your case. If it does, you should be fine!

Yeah, I meant the 9700X, but I'm guessing the 9070 XT is what works best. Thanks for the suggestion!
