Hey everyone! I'm looking to switch my old HP laptop from Windows 10 to Linux because I'm really frustrated with the performance issues and the lack of freedom I have with Windows. It's a 2019 model, and I'm wondering if switching to Linux would be a smart move. If so, which Linux distribution would be the best for beginners while still being good for performance? I plan to use this laptop primarily for server work, browsing, and maybe dabble in some low-resource gaming. Thanks for any advice!

If you're looking for something that resembles Windows 10, consider Zorin OS. It’s similar in appearance and comes without all that bloatware. It's a smooth transition if you're worried about the look and feel. Just make sure to give it a shot!
I highly recommend checking out Linux Mint! It's user-friendly and performs well on older hardware. Also, be sure to watch some introductory videos about Linux to get familiar with it before you switch. I found a great resource with a bunch of tutorials that can help you out.
Ubuntu and Mint are great options for beginners. Don't forget to look into Desktop Environments (DEs); they can really personalize your experience. Just choose one that catches your eye and go for it! And remember, always back up your data before making any changes! Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve heard Zorin is quite nice—excited to try it out!
