Is It a Good Idea to Use an Internal SSD as an External Drive?

I'm using an older laptop with a Ryzen 5 processor and 8GB of RAM. My internal SSD is pretty small at 215GB, and I primarily use it for gaming. I'm considering adding more storage, but I wanted to know if it's okay to buy an internal SSD and use it as an external drive instead. Any advice?

It's totally feasible! Just remember that getting the right adapter is key. SSDs are fast, and you’ll appreciate the added space for your games. Plus, having an external SSD means you can easily move your data when you upgrade your laptop in the future.

Using an internal SSD as an external drive can work, but it's important to ensure you have the right enclosure. Make sure it supports the SSD type you buy and provides adequate cooling. If you want to maximize speed, go for an NVMe SSD with a compatible enclosure. Just keep in mind that performance might vary based on the connection type.
