Is it a smart move to buy a 20 series GPU now?

I'm thinking about grabbing either a 2070 Super or a 2080 since the used prices are looking quite tempting. I'm curious about how these cards will perform over the next 4-5 years. Will they still be good enough for 1080p gaming in the near future?

If you mainly play less demanding games like CS2 or Valorant, then going for a 20 series card could be a decent choice. You'll be just fine with those!

It really depends on your overall system. If you're running a stronger setup, you might be okay, but don't expect these cards to handle future games flawlessly. The performance can really vary based on what else you have!

I have a Ryzen 5 5600G and I'm planning to upgrade to 32GB of RAM soon.

I have a 2080 Super, and it handles older titles well for me, but it does struggle with ray tracing. If you're gaming at 1440p, it works fine, but for 1080p, it should do alright! Just keep your expectations realistic with newer releases.

I got my RTX 2070 Super in 2020, and it's treated me well through the years. It should still be okay for 1080p gaming, especially if you're willing to dial down some settings like ray tracing. It's stronger than the Xbox Series S, which is still relevant, so I think you'll be fine!

If you're looking for something that lasts longer, consider spending a bit more on a 4070 Super. It offers much better performance and more VRAM, which will be really important in a year or two when games become more demanding. You might find a good deal on it if you look!

Yeah, but those newer cards tend to be pricier than the older 20 series, so weigh your options!

Be cautious—some games, especially AAA titles, might not perform well. I heard Borderlands 4 can struggle even with a 2060, so some newer games might be a tough call. Just keep that in mind!
