Is it acceptable to ask a client to pay in cryptocurrency?

I'm about to start a contract with a new client in New York and usually handle payments through Wise or direct bank transfers. However, I'm finding the fees and the delays pretty annoying. I'd prefer to get paid in USDC because it allows me instant access to my funds without the usual 3-day waiting period. Has anyone here ever asked a traditional web company to pay in crypto? I'm concerned I might come off as unprofessional or complicate things for their finance department. How should I approach this?

Yeah, asking for crypto might come off as strange to most finance teams. They're probably not keen on setting up a crypto wallet just for one contractor. It's worth considering how it could complicate their processes.

It really depends on the company. If they’re not used to dealing with crypto, your request could raise red flags. Most companies prefer traditional payment methods because crypto adds more complexity to their accounting.

Exactly! You’re trying to avoid a hassle for yourself but might be creating one for them instead.

Honestly, if they’re not already into crypto, it could be a big hassle for them. They’d have to deal with exchanges and fees. Plus, it just doesn't seem worth the effort for a single contractor, you know?
