Hey everyone! I'm 18 and about to start my journey in computer engineering, but I've been passionate about drawing since I was 7. I even considered studying design before going into tech. Now, I'm curious about how beneficial it is to have art skills as a programmer, especially since I dream of creating my own indie games. I'm also interested in the ongoing debates about AI and art, which makes me think about how my interests in both fields might intersect. So, how useful will knowing traditional and digital art really be for my future in programming and game development?

It really depends on your goals. If you want a job in a corporate setting, art skills won't likely matter much. However, if your aim is to create indie games on your own, having a solid foundation in art is a huge advantage! You'll save on costs and have full creative control over your projects.

Exactly! I'm also working on improving my art skills because I want to be a one-man indie game developer. In my regular job, art skills don’t make much of a difference, but they help with communication with designers!
