Is it normal for Apple Store employees to scan a QR code during transactions and show my devices?

I recently went to my local Apple Store in the UK to pick up an order and trade in my MacBook. During the process, an employee asked me to scan a QR code, and I quickly navigated the prompts. Once I finished, I noticed that on the employee's device, my information and a list of my owned devices were visible. The employee even noted that it was good the MacBook wasn't listed anymore. After leaving, I started worrying that I may have inadvertently compromised my Apple ID and may have given access to my devices. I've been researching online to see if this practice is normal, but the answers are mixed. I really need reassurance that I haven't jeopardized my account and that this is an expected process. Should I be concerned?

Yes, this is normal! The Apple Store has been using this tool for in-store transactions since last year. Your Apple ID hasn't been compromised. The employees can only see a list of devices signed into your account, your carrier info, and any subscriptions you have. They can't make changes to your account or charge anything. It's designed to make the purchasing process smoother and help with device upgrades.

Thanks for the reassurance! I had a hunch it was fine, but my mind was racing! It makes sense that it’s a newer procedure since I don’t remember this from my last visit. Really appreciate you clarifying this!
