Is it Normal for High Temperatures and Bubbles on My AMD Ryzen 5 9600X?

Hey everyone! I just received my AMD Ryzen 5 9600X from Amazon, and the box was sealed, so everything seemed fine. I installed it with a Cooler Master Hyper 412R cooler, which should be compatible with this CPU's TDP. I wasn't expecting super low temperatures, just something decent.

But I ran into problems after installing Windows 11. Initially, during the first boot, it shut down, and I shrugged it off. However, the second time I started it up, I noticed that my CPU temperatures were unusually high, hitting 55°C at idle! When I opened any program, the fans kicked on like a jet engine, pushing temperatures to 80-85°C.

I turned the PC off, knowing this wasn't right. When I removed the CPU, I saw odd little bubbles around the chip (I uploaded photos in the comments). Are these bubbles normal for AMD processors? Should I be worried about the CPU or the cooler? Thanks for any insights!

It looks like you're having some serious heating issues there. Make sure you have applied thermal paste properly. Without good thermal contact, it could lead to overheating like you've described. Also, the bubbles around the CPU aren't common, so keep an eye on your temperatures and consider reapplying thermal paste if you're unsure!

Judging by your pics, that doesn’t seem normal for a Ryzen CPU. I have AMD CPUs, and I've never experienced that bubbling issue before. Maybe it’s a sign of too much heat or a faulty chip. If it continues after checking the cooler, you might want to consider getting a replacement.

Definitely concerning temperatures. Your cooler should manage it fine, but if the bottom of the heatsink is dirty or if there’s too much thermal paste, that could cause problems. Make sure the cooler is seating properly on the CPU. I haven’t seen bubbles like that before in AMD CPUs either. It might be worth checking if your cooler is making good contact with the chip.
