Is it normal to see a spike in CPU usage when opening Task Manager?

I've noticed that when I open my Task Manager, the CPU usage jumps to about 50-60% for a second before dropping to around 15%. Should I be worried about this or is it typical behavior? Should I get a professional to check my PC?

Yeah, totally normal. It can vary a bit depending on your CPU model. Every time you open a new application, your CPU will likely momentarily peak like that. It's just how it handles the load!

Thanks for confirming that! I didn't remember about those initial spikes.

What you're seeing is pretty normal! When you open Task Manager, it's common for CPU usage to spike a bit. It's just the process of loading the program and gathering data, so you shouldn't worry too much about it.

You might want to run your built-in antivirus just to be safe, and maybe check with something like Malwarebytes. But honestly, it's probably just the normal spike from opening the Task Manager. Most likely, your system is fine!

I can try scanning with my Panda Dome antivirus. Thanks for suggesting that, even though I think it's just a spike as others have said!
