I've recently decided to rearrange my setup and want to move my gaming PC off my desk to free up some space. Currently, I have a 1-inch thick board over the carpet for it to sit on, since I have an AC vent behind that helps lower the temperatures a bit—around 2 or 3 degrees compared to when it was on the desk. I'm curious about how high off the floor my PC should be. Is my current setup fine, or should I raise it more? Here are my specs for context:
- RTX 5080 FE
- Ultra 7 265K with ultra boost BIOS
- 64GB DDR5 6400MHz
- Asus Rog Strix Z890-F Gaming
- 4TB NVME
- 1000W PSU (Gold)
- 360mm AIO
- P500A Phantex case (it's about 5 years old but still working well)
- 1440p 24-inch 180Hz monitor
- 4K 120Hz OLED (TV/monitor)
I'm not worried about spills or flooding since I keep food and drinks away from that side of the desk. I've seen case risers on Amazon ranging from $20 to $50, but I'm wondering if that's necessary or if I'm overthinking this.

I recommend using something like a CPU stand to keep it off the carpet. I got one from IKEA for about £19, and it works great. As long as you have a gap for airflow, you should be alright.
Your setup sounds fine as is! Just keep an eye on it and make sure to clean out any dust every few months. Dust buildup can cause overheating issues, but you'll be good with your current setup as long as there's some airflow underneath.
Thanks! I actually dust it every 30 days with a special dust gun, so I'm good there!
Thanks for the suggestion! I did look at some on Amazon, but I'm worried about weight since my PC is quite heavy.
