Is it okay to use a 7600 non-X cooler on a 7600X CPU?

I'm looking to save some cash and my friend has a stock cooler from his unused 7600. Would it be okay to borrow it and use it on my 7600X for a while? I might upgrade to a better cooler later, but for now, I'd just like to know if this wouldn't cause any issues.

Yeah, you can definitely use that cooler for your 7600X! Just make sure to avoid enabling Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) with it. If you're looking for something better down the line, the Phantom Spirit is a great option for around $35 and offers great cooling—some folks say it rivals coolers that cost three times that!

I wouldn’t push for any aftermarket coolers either; I think keeping it at 5 GHz is plenty! Just take it easy.

Appreciate the advice, that makes a lot of sense!

Yeah, the stock cooler is perfectly fine for now! Just keep an eye on your temps.

You can use it, but it’s best to limit the power draw to the standard 7600 levels to keep things stable.
