I've been asked to convert a Windows XP virtual machine running on VMWare ESXi 6.5 into a physical server or workstation. To be honest, I'm a bit skeptical about this request. Has anyone actually done something like this before? I know there are many solutions for moving physical machines to virtual ones, but what about the other way around?

Before diving into this, ask the requester what problem they're actually trying to solve. Moving the XP machine might not be the best solution without understanding the underlying issues they face. They might need a totally different approach than just shifting to physical hardware.

Right? It's crucial to identify the core issue rather than going along with their solution idea.

You might hit some serious driver issues unless you manage to find a really old machine that can handle XP. An option could be to run VMware Workstation to see if that helps.
