Hey everyone! I'm pretty new to Linux and I'm thinking about installing Linux Mint Cinnamon alongside my existing Windows 10 setup. I really don't want to keep switching NVMe drives all the time, so I'm wondering if it's possible to install Linux Mint on the same drive where Windows 10 is already set up. If it is possible, can someone walk me through the steps on how to do it? Thanks!

It's totally doable! As long as you have enough free space, you can partition the drive for both Windows and Linux. I've been dual booting since the 90s, and I started with a single 40GB drive, so it can definitely work! Just remember to be careful with the bootloader during installation.
I really want to install it permanently myself. Switching NVMe drives is such a hassle! Dual booting sounds like the best solution. Just need to figure out the partitioning part.
Yes, you can definitely dual boot! The first step is to shrink the C: partition in Windows to make room for Linux. Once you've done that, you can create a new partition in that empty space for Linux Mint. Just be really cautious when you're resizing partitions to avoid deleting anything important. There are plenty of guides online, such as one from Tom's Hardware, that explain it well.
You can dual boot, but if you want an easier setup, consider installing Linux Mint on a USB drive. That way, you won’t have to deal with partitions at all! But if you're set on a permanent installation, go for it!
For sure, that's a common way to set it up! I recommend using a tool like Niubi Partition Wizard to resize your Windows partitions. This will leave some unallocated space for the Linux installation. During the Mint installation, you can manually set partitions like root and EFI in that space.
