Is It Possible to Learn Scala Independently Without Job Experience?

I'm curious if it's really feasible to learn Scala on your own if you're not working for a company that uses it. I've noticed that there aren't as many resources for Scala compared to some other programming languages. Employers definitely seem to want candidates with Scala experience, but I'm wondering how someone could self-teach and create projects without being in a work environment that utilizes Scala.

Actually, there's a little-known tidbit: even the Scala developers were part of companies using Scala. But that shouldn't discourage you! Self-learning is definitely possible.

You absolutely can learn Scala without being employed! Most programmers pick up coding skills on their own well before landing a job. There are tons of online resources available for Scala, contrary to what you might think. One site I recommend is learnxinyminutes.com/scala — it’s a great starting point and has additional resources linked at the bottom.

Definitely! You don’t have to work for a Scala company to learn it. Check out effective-scala on Coursera; it's a solid course. There are plenty of resources out there. Just dive in and start coding on your own. You'll pick things up in no time!
