Is it possible to run multiple Linux distributions on the same hard drive?

I'm new to Linux and curious about the different distributions out there. Is it feasible to set up partitions on the same hard drive for various distros? For example, I could have one main OS like Mint and another specialized for gaming. Do I need separate partitions to access different distros, or is there another way?

If you're looking for even more flexibility, consider using a virtual machine (VM) setup, or check out tools like Ventoy that allow you to boot different distros from a USB stick!

Kind of! If by "at the same time" you mean dual-booting, yes, you can easily set up several OSes and switch between them. However, if you want them to run simultaneously, that gets tricky. You could technically do it, but dual-booting is generally better. Remember, for dual-booting, you'll need to restart and choose your OS when you boot up.

Yes, you can definitely do that! Many Linux users set up their systems to dual boot with different distros or even Windows. Personally, I have three OSes installed: Arch Linux, NixOS, and Windows 11.

You can create as many partitions as you want for different distros! While it's technically easy to have multiple distros, I suggest finding one that meets your needs for general use. Distros like Bazzite, Cache, or Pop! are great for gaming but still work well for everyday tasks.
