Is It Possible to Use My Old iMac as an External Monitor?

Hey folks! I'm looking for some help with my old iMac. I'm curious if I can use it as an external display for my newer Mac or even a Windows laptop. I've heard about Target Display Mode but I'm unsure if my iMac model supports it. It has been running really slow, so I thought this might be a fun way to repurpose it. If you could let me know what cables or software I would need, that'd be awesome. Thanks a lot!

I checked your iMac's serial number, and it looks like you've got a 21.5" Late 2013 model. Unfortunately, that's a bummer because those can't utilize Target Display Mode. Only the 27-inch iMac models from 2009 to 2014 can do that. If you still want to use your iMac as a display, you could try Luna Display or Duet Display. They let you stream your display over USB or Wi-Fi, but keep in mind, it won't be as sharp or responsive as a real monitor.

Okay thanks! I’ll check for Luna / Duet display. Really helpful! Thanks!
