Is it really that hard to find a React and Node.js job?

I've been noticing a trend where most job postings I see are looking for React combined with Java or Python. I'm really interested in working for startups that are making a positive impact. Is it realistic to find a job that focuses on React with Node.js, or am I just being unrealistic?

It's not unrealistic, but being flexible with your skills can help. If you're proficient in JavaScript, picking up Python or Java can be quick. However, be ready to tackle questions about your experience with those languages if you choose to branch out.

What about creating your own startup? You mentioned having a lot of ideas in a specific niche. If you're passionate about those projects, maybe building your own product could be the way to go!

Finding a job that combines React and Node.js is definitely possible, though the current job market is pretty tough, especially for entry-level positions. It's strange that you're not seeing more React with Node roles, since I recently got a job offer for a Node.js backend position that valued React skills too. Have you checked platforms like GitHub for opportunities? There's some decent work available if you look in the right places.

I think your local job market might be limiting you. I faced similar issues about seven years ago and had to move to find better opportunities. It could be worth considering relocation if that's an option for you.

The job market is indeed rough right now for many developers. One tip that helped me land interviews was learning another backend framework, like FastAPI or Django. It seems like combining Python with React gets more attention than just focusing on a JavaScript stack. Maybe it's worth expanding your skills a bit?
