Is it reasonable to ask to benchmark a GPU at the store before buying it?

I'm heading to America soon, and I'm planning to buy a GPU there. Since I live in Uruguay, returning it if there's a factory defect would be impossible, and I'm really worried about it not working once I get it home. Would it be crazy to ask the store to benchmark the GPU after I buy it?

Most stores probably won't offer that service. It's best to be prepared for that. But if you're able to, look for open-box GPUs; they're usually tested before they get resold.

It really depends on the store policies. Some places like Microcenter might let you test it out, especially if it's open box. Reach out to someone if they have a rig with similar specs for additional help too. After all, feeling better about your purchase is worth it!

Honestly, it might be impossible in most cases. Just keep that in mind when you're shopping around, and maybe ask lots of questions before buying.

It's really a balancing act. Buying locally does help with warranty issues, but I totally get how frustrating the prices can be back home. If you think the store would allow it, definitely ask to benchmark it. Better safe than sorry!

Yeah, it's tough! Prices in Uruguay can be crazy, and that's what makes people nervous about buying abroad. Just try to get the best assurance you can.
