Is it safe to buy a 12V-2×6 cable from eBay?

Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a bind here. I'm looking to buy a 12V-2x6 cable specifically for my Seasonic TX1600 power supply. eBay seems to be the only place that has this particular cable in stock since it's either not sold anywhere else or completely sold out. Lately, my PC has been black screening when I open or close the case. I suspect it might be due to my glass panel pressing against the cable. After some fiddling, I managed to prevent it from making contact, and that seems to have resolved the immediate issue. However, I'm concerned that the cable might be damaged. I also have another 12V-2x6 cable that came with my PSU, but I think a 90-degree cable would be a better fit for my setup. The seller on eBay has a positive feedback score of around 200, but I worry they could have deleted negative reviews. Should I take the plunge and trust this seller, or should I just play it safe and use the other cable? Thanks!

I get where you're coming from, but if the cable is indeed a genuine Seasonic part, it should be safe to use. Seasonic wouldn't market it if it wasn't compatible for that PSU. You mentioned you checked their site, so that's a plus. If it’s just about the connector type, I'd say go for it! Just keep monitoring your system afterward to ensure everything is stable. Best of luck!

Thanks for the reassurance! I’ll definitely keep an eye on it after I switch the cables.

Honestly, I’d be really careful about buying third-party cables, especially for high-wattage PSUs like yours. It's true that every PSU manual warns about using only original cables. Even if the cable looks the same, the pinouts could differ, which can lead to serious issues. With a 1600W PSU, you're dealing with a lot of power. Make sure you check if the cable is an official Seasonic one because that could reduce the risk significantly. Don't play with fire when it comes to your hardware!

The one I'm considering is actually made by Seasonic, so it should be good quality, right? But I definitely don't want to risk anything if it's not worth it.
