Is It Safe to Buy a ‘Like New’ PC Unit from Amazon?

I'm considering purchasing a 'Used - Like New' PSU from Amazon for my build, specifically the Corsair RM850x. I know the PSU is a crucial component, and I don't want to compromise on quality. The listing mentioned that the packaging was damaged, but it didn't specify any issues with the item itself. The price has dropped from £145 to £105, so I'm wondering if I should trust buying it. Also, I saw a used SSD listed for £145 instead of £177, but I'm getting mixed feelings about buying used in general. Any advice?

Usually, the 'Used' label on Amazon means it could be found cheaper on eBay, or it could just be a little worn. Also, I’m surprised your PSU is priced at £105—there are plenty of good alternatives, like Montech or Be Quiet, that are around £100 or less, and they come with great warranties! Just check out options on PCPartPicker too. You're paying a bit much here!

I’m really trying to get the Corsair 850x shift 80+ gold in white! I just want to make sure I’m not skimping on the important stuff.

I've had pretty good luck buying used stuff on Amazon, around 75% of the time. Just make sure to put the item through its paces while you can still return it. I recommend doing a heavy stress test—try running something like Prime95 and Furmark overnight to really push the PSU. For SSDs, use CrystalDiskMark and any testing tools from the manufacturer. Better safe than sorry!

I once bought a 'Used - Like New' GPU on Amazon and it definitely wasn't 'like new.' It ended up overheating and crashing my PC. Honestly, Amazon can be pretty lenient with that 'Like New' label, so it might be something as old as seven years but still marketed that way. Just be cautious!
