I'm wondering if it's risky to change the boot drive number using the BIOS since my boot SSD is currently showing as Disk 1 in Disk Management, although I prefer it to be Disk 0 for simplicity in command operations. I've heard that altering the drive number could potentially cause issues with Windows and other software. I know I could physically rearrange the drives inside my PC, but I'd like to avoid doing that if possible. Should I just leave everything as it is, or is it usually safe to make this change in the BIOS?

Just to clarify, the boot order set in the BIOS won't change anything in Windows itself. So if your SSD is showing as Disk 1, that won't impact how the system boots up. It’s quite common to have different drive numbers in BIOS versus how they appear in Windows, so no need to worry!
Changing the boot order in the BIOS is actually pretty safe! It won't affect the drive letter designations in Windows, which means your programs should be fine. The boot order just tells your system which drive to check first when starting up, so you don't have to worry about causing any issues with your applications. If you want to stick with your current setup without any hassle, you can definitely do that!
Thanks for confirming that! I feel better knowing I can adjust BIOS settings without messing things up.

Got it, thanks! I was concerned I might break something by changing it.
