Is it Safe to Plug in a Found SD Card into My Car?

I found an SD card labeled "SD XC Lexar professional 128gb" while I was out and I'm kind of tempted to see what's on it. My only option to read it is through my 2017 VW Golf, but I'm worried that it might contain a virus or malware that could damage the car's computer system. Can SD cards actually carry viruses and harm my car, or is that just a myth?

Honestly, it's better to just throw that SD card away. Who knows what could be on it? There have been stories of people finding SD cards that wipe out their systems. Just my two cents!

Wise choice! So many risks involved. Just let it go.

Your car's infotainment system is a computer too, and it likely has weaker malware protection than your regular devices. Don’t risk it—only plug in devices that you know are safe. Better safe than sorry!

Right? Such a small mistake can lead to big problems.

Exactly! It’s not worth finding out what could happen.

If you're really curious, plug it into an old laptop that you don’t mind losing rather than your car. Just isolate it completely from any network. That way, you can safely check what's on it.

Good idea! Just make sure to wipe it afterwards.

Yes! Always keep those systems separate.

Honestly, plugging in a random unknown device into anything you own is a terrible idea. It could definitely mess things up or even wipe your system out. Just toss it and save yourself the headache!

Totally agree! It's just not worth the risk.

Yeah, I wish I could do that but my curiosity is killing me!
