Hey everyone! I recently built my first PC, and I'd love some advice regarding the safety of positioning my case upright. My specs include a TUF850 Plus Wifi motherboard, a Gigabyte 5080 GPU, and a Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor. I'm concerned about the weight of the massive 5080 GPU, especially since my previous RTX 2070 started to sag a bit when I had the case vertical. While I was able to install a support bracket from Gigabyte, I'm still anxious about how securely the card is held in place, as it's only attached with one screw at the back. I had to modify the case slightly so that the GPU would fit without obstructing the Display Ports. Would you recommend keeping the case vertical, or is it safer to lay it on its side? I appreciate any advice you can give!

Honestly, your case seems a bit outdated for modern builds, especially when it comes to cooling. If feasible, I’d recommend investing in a new case that’s designed for better airflow and has proper mounting options for large GPUs. It’ll definitely enhance your build standards. Also, good call on considering the new case!
It sounds like the main concern is the weight of the GPU and how it's secured. You definitely should add another screw to secure the GPU better. Also, I'm noticing that the rear fan seems to be set incorrectly, which could affect airflow, so make sure to check that too. Regarding your question, if you can securely support the GPU with both screws and the bracket, it should be okay to keep the case vertical. Just keep an eye on it for any signs of sagging over time.
I totally agree! Adding more support will help a lot. Just make sure everything is tight and check on it periodically.
Thanks for the input! I just ordered a NZXT H9 Flow, so I'm hoping it'll offer much better airflow and support.
