Is it safe to remove the front panel of my PC for quieter fans?

I accidentally pulled off the front panel of my PC while moving it, and I noticed that it makes the fans a lot quieter. I'm worried because this is my first PC and I don't really know what I'm doing. Is it safe to leave the front off?

Taking the front off is generally safe! Just be cautious if you have pets or kids around since they could poke into the fans. The reason it gets quieter is likely that more airflow allows the fans to spin slower. I usually take my front off during summer for less heat and noise. Just be aware that if the front had a dust filter, your PC might get dustier.

Any tips on keeping a cat away? I don't think he'll bother it, but I'm a little worried since I have to sleep with it running while I download a big game.
