Is it safe to set my Dell Latitude 5400’s battery charging limit to 80%?

I'm using a Dell Latitude 5400 and I've noticed that its battery health has dropped to 68% after about five years. I generated a battery report and found that the battery's design capacity is 42,009 mWh but the current full charge capacity is only 27,212 mWh. I read that I should utilize the Dell Command Power Manager app to limit the battery charge to 80% and keep my laptop plugged into AC power to help reduce battery stress. My question is, will setting this charging limit and running my laptop on AC power harm the battery or the laptop in any way?

Setting the charge limit to 80% is actually a good idea! It's designed for people who mostly use their laptops plugged in, and it won't damage your device. Just make sure you check your battery for any signs of wear, especially since it's been 5 years. If it's not swollen or damaged, you're fine!

I checked mine too, and luckily it’s in good shape with no swelling. I still get decent battery life out of it.
